OVERVIEW
We invite you to participate in a facilitated workshop that will encourage us to promote learning and dialogue about the role of racism, privilege, and justice in ourselves and our communities.
Through experiential activities, mini-presentations, personal reflections, and small group work, this workshop will explore the following topics: cultural identity, components of racism, white privilege, being an ally, and racial justice.
FACILITATOR
Armando Hernández, PhD. Dr. Hernandez is a Licensed Psychologist who provides bilingual mental health services for underserved youth, adults, and families. He works in a community health center and provides behavioral health consultation, brief treatment, and community prevention. He also currently works as a consultant and clinical assistant professor. In the past, he has worked in community mental health agencies and university counseling centers.
His educational background includes an MA in Counseling from Boston College and a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He specializes in the area of multicultural counseling and has conducted and participated in numerous presentations in the area of cultural diversity and racial justice. He strives to integrate the principle of social justice into his work by working from a collaborative, empowerment, and multicultural framework. He was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and has lived in Wisconsin for more than 10 years. You can find more about him by going to his website at:
