Criminal Justice Reform Efforts
We seek to educate ourselves and others with regard to criminal justice reform initiatives.
- Solitary confinement for extended periods of time equates to torture.
- Treatment alternatives should replace prison sentences for those afflicted with mental illness and drug addiction.
- We can't ignore the impact that poverty has on the futures of our youth and their families with regard to food and shelter insecurity.
- Jan 27, 2020 - Now showing in theaters is the movie "Just Mercy" which is a true story about an attorney, Bryan Stevenson and his client who is sentenced to death row. This movie is based on the book by the same name which includes many more stories about prison injustices. This is a great introduction to learning about issues surrounding the criminal justice system.
