MARY DALY (1928 - 2010)
Mary Daly was a world-renowned and radical feminist philosopher and theologian who provoked others to think about everything---their every choice, every action, every word.
Her work particularly impacted the lives of women. Her books are her great legacy with their importance yet to be fully realized. She created a cultural and intellectual space for women that had not yet existed, a space where all women and men could struggle and grow, a space that pushed the rejection of sexism further than most dared to consider. She both upset and inspired her readers.
Before teaching at Boston College from 1967 - 1999, Daly earned Doctorates in Religion from St. Mary's College and Sacred Theology and Philosophy from the University of Fribourg, Switzerland.

RESOURCES
“Women need to thank Daly for raising two of the most important theological questions of our time: one, whether the question of a male God was consistent with the teaching that God was pure spirit, and two, whether a church that is more patriarchal system than authentic church could possibly survive in its present form. These two questions have yet to be resolved and are yet rankling both thinkers and institutions.”
